Score your own organisation

Twenty-one things any human system needs to keep going for generations without collapsing into extraction, capture or drift. Flip the switches to how your organisation actually works and see where it lands. Nothing is sent anywhere.

What this is. A quick self-check against the criteria for a system built to last. It is scale-free: the same questions describe a team, a company, a community or a whole society. Your answers stay in your browser.

How to use it. Set each switch to how your organisation actually works, not how you would like it to. The lit side is the choice that helps it last; the dim side is the one that quietly erodes it. Press WHY on any row to see what that criterion is, where it came from, and why it carries the weight it does.

Most people score lower than they expect, and that is the useful part. The low ones are the work.

How the score is worked out

1. Each criterion is measured against your system. Every one asks a specific structural question: how decisions get made, how someone can leave, how power is held and handed on. Each level is written down, so a score is a match against a stated bar rather than a gut call.

2. Each criterion is weighted by how much it holds the whole thing up. The 21 are not equal. A clear purpose or a safe way out is load-bearing: remove it and the thing fails or turns on its people. A regular review matters, but its absence fades slowly. So your score leans on the heavy ones.

What this page does NOT do: it takes your word for it. Nothing here is checked against evidence, so treat the number as a mirror rather than a verdict. The full assessment grades every answer by the proof behind it and gives a confidence figure alongside the score, and that is a different exercise.

Want the real one? We can run your organisation through the full assessment, where every answer is graded by the evidence behind it and you get the complete working: every criterion, its weight, the proof, and exactly what it contributed. You can recompute the total yourself and land on the same number.

And if you want to raise it, that is work we do: the low scores come with what would actually move them, which is usually a handful of structural changes rather than a rebuild.

Either way the criteria are public and so is the arithmetic, so you can act on this without us. Talk to us · take the full assessment

What the number is: an illustrative alignment score, not an official certification — each criterion is weighted by how load-bearing it is (core criteria move the score most). The tier names are placeholders; the official certification names come from the ETHOS Book / canon. Built on the OS Compare readiness criteria + New GDP's problem-load math. Coming next: take it as a quiz, compare organizations side by side, assess an organization from its operating documents, and earn a badge for how aligned it is.
